Ferrets are usually spayed or neutered before they become available for adoption. They also have their major scent glands removed but there is some remaining odor that is fairly easy to deal with.
The should have vaccinations for distemper & rabies. The cost of the vaccines depends on where you live & what your vet charges.
Ferrets are smart & very playful. They’re great pets but are fairly high maintenance. They can be litter trained but it’s more challenging than training cats or rabbits. It tooks weeks to litter train ours & in the meantime I was *constantly* cleaning up after her. Once she had the idea she was as good about it as any cat & would even *pretend* to use the box so she could get a reward. The litter box needs to be firmly attached to the cage or they’ll knock it over.

Well i’ve had ferrets for years and if you buy them from guys who work them you can get one for as little as a fiver. I have never had a ferret vaccinated for anything and have never met anybody who has lost a ferret through a contagious disease.
Not that a vet will tell you as much.
If you keep two the same sex then neutering is not an issue, all combinations of sexes mix. Femails smell less but males are often more docile.
I would go for a court rather than a cage, mine is a small converted dog kennel with run, check out ebay.
I have never heard of them having worms.
Food for mine is often free but you can give them chicken wings from tescos 1.50 a pack and will last them easily a week.
Good luck they are much more fun than most other small animals.
My three must cost me around 50 pounds a year.

if you have a medi-vet near they charge around £30 to neuter spay and its around 20 for the vaccinations.I considered a ferret earlier this year and phoned them to about this, these prices are an offer they are doing at the mo, very cheap so look into it quickly!!

In UK at my vets its £30.00 neuter & £42.00 spay, I have kept many pets over the years, I got my ferrets last year, I loved them very much, but just as they reached maturity, I became very allergic to them, it got so bad that today I took them to their new home and my heart is broken, FAB pets they really are loveable, and you get very attached, but if you have allergies to cats especially – don’t get ferrets as they cause similar reactions, and not always straight away it is a gradual build up, they don’t need vaccinations now in UK as far as I am aware, they make marvellous housepets, but get two please then they do all the rough housing to one another and leave you out of it LOL
